There's no end to the opportunities to engage in sports in Amsterdam, but the cheapest place for students and staff of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) to do so is at the USC. There are also all sorts of student sports clubs you can join. The UvA also has a scheme for top-class athletes.
The UvA student sports centre is open seven days a week and is based in six locations spread across the city and located close to other UvA buildings and facilities wherever possible. There are four gyms, outdoor tennis courts, a yoga studio, climbing walls and much more besides. You can choose from over 60 sports and various types of membership.
Would you like to try it out? You can take three trial lessons for €6.
Bachelor's students starting their degree programme at the UvA in September 2020 will be gifted one year of sports at USC at no charge!
In addition to the USC, there are sports clubs where you can participate in sports such as rowing, horse riding, climbing, track & field, basketball or rugby.
