New Exchange students

On this page you will find useful information meant for students who are about to start their Exchange programme at the Amsterdam Law School.

  • Studying in the academic year 2020-2021

The academic year 2020-2021 starts in September. If restrictions due to the corona virus do not allow for classes on our campus, we will offer education and examinations remotely, for as long as necessary. Where possible, we offer a combination with education in small groups on Roeterseiland, taking into account a distance of 1.5 meters from each other. As soon as it is possible again to resume education on Roeterseiland, we will do so. In any case, we will provide full and interactive education, as well as an excellent introduction to our programmes.

  • Application and enrolment

Exchange students are nominated by their home universities. You are required to submit the online application form before either 15 October (Spring semester) or 1 May (Fall semester), depending on the semester chosen. Exchange students are exempted from paying tuition fee to the University of Amsterdam.

Once you have been admitted to the Exchange Programme in Law we will forward your personal information to the UvA Student Services department. Student Services will help you through the necessary procedures. This starts with the UvA registration process while you are still abroad. During this process, you will be helped with such procedures as your visa/residence permit (if applicable), signing up for the introduction programmes and making sure that we are completely prepared for your arrival in Amsterdam. After completion of your UvA registration, you will be invited for a Start appointment.

  • Introduction day

    Introduction day

The ban on large-scale events as a result of the corona virus has been extended until 1 September. The UvA follows the government guidelines in this respect, which unfortunately also means that the introduction day for your study that was planned on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August 2020 will not take place physically. However, in order to prepare you well for studying at the UvA and the content of your study programme, we will offer an online version of your introduction programme.

We are working hard to give this form and as soon as more information is known about the content of the programme, it will be available on this website.
