What will happen?
New waste containers have been installed on the ground floor and first floor of buildings A, B, C and D. From September onwards, tests will be carried out over four months to see whether the waste can be separated in a different way. Waste can be disposed of in containers for organic waste and food waste, coffee cups, paper, plastic packaging, tin, drinks cartons and residual waste. On and near the waste containers, you will find information indicating what belongs where. The existing general waste containers on this floors have been removed.
The UvA aims to become a pioneer in the field of sustainability. A circular approach to waste will help us to achieve this aim. The goal is to reduce the production of waste. Furthermore, the waste that is produced should be processed as sustainably as possible. Circularity, or the reuse of raw materials, is an important starting point here. Various methods of separating waste will be tested at various locations until January. On the basis of the resulting data, we will then examine which method works best for the UvA. From summer 2021, the new method of separating waste will be introduced at all UvA locations.
