This summer, the Library is organising a Library Summer School for lecturers who want to expand their IT or digital skills. A number of online workshops will be taught on Wednesday 1 September and Thursday 2 September. Have a look to see which workshops on Thursday are of interest to you, and register.

Workshop: Open teaching material and data: where to find them?

  • Thursday, 2 September, 09:30 – 10:50.
  • Workshop in English.
  • This workshop will provide you with tips for finding open teaching material and open data effectively for the benefit of your curriculum. To this end, you will search databases and repositories.

Workshop: Data detox for lecturers  

  • Thursday, 2 September, 11:00 – 12:20.
  • Workshop in Dutch.
  • Our data are sought after; sometimes, we give them away all too easily. This workshop offers tips and tricks for preventing unwanted use of your data by third parties. You will also learn about practical management of your files and dealing with an information overload.

Workshop: Introduction to OpenRefine (cleaning up data)  

  • Thursday, 2 September, 12:30 – 13:50.
  • Workshop in Dutch.
  • The open-source software OpenRefine (formerly GoogleRefine) helps you analyse, clean up and transform your data. This workshop provides a brief demonstration of this powerful tool.

Workshop: Readers and reading lists in Canvas  

  • Thursday, 2 September, 14:00 – 15:20.
  • Workshop in English.
  • In Canvas, you can prepare reading lists for students, with or without using PDFs. This workshop will give you a demonstration of Readers in Canvas; we will also discuss the added value for teaching.
