Minor

European History

This minor offers students an orientation in the discipline of European History in a global context. Students gain knowledge of the field of European history (including Dutch history from a European perspective), by means of an overview of European, historiography and the principal historical research methods, and to learn to apply these to present-day themes and topics within European history and politics.

This minor represents a unique proposition in the Faculty and the University. It offers Humanities students, but also those from Social Sciences, Economics and Law, the opportunity to specialise in the academic study of European history in a global context. Students from different disciplines, from media studies, art history and languages, but also from sociology, political science and anthropology, have good reason to study history related questions.
